The weight and strength needed to take heavy cuts is also present in this flute design. The steel used to make all tools in the MASTERCUT line is a CPM M4 HSS - a high-tech particle metal. Making our tools from CPM HSS is what truly sets them above the competition. This powder manufacturing process distributes the carbides uniformly throughout the steel. This process prevents the globular, irregular distribution of carbides and alloys as found in conventional HSS. Advantages of having such uniformity in the steel are: easier to sharpen, performs more consistently, &maintains its edge longer (up to 3 times longer). Note: The carbides in this steel are very fine. This means there are more of them on the cutting edge of the tool at all times compared to lower grade steel. | | | Features: | |

Great Gouge -- Slow Shipping From OnewaySep 07, 2011
By David Wood turners can easily tell a quality gouge from a cheap gouge. This Oneway gouge has become my favorite "go to" gouge when I'm turning bowls. It holds a sharp edge well and is weighted perfectly for me. It feels like riding the tube in a wave when the shavings start arcing over my head while getting that perfect cut. I'll purchase one again when I finally grind it down in a few years. That said, I will not buy it directly from Oneway via Amazon. I could have walked from Canada to California faster than the gouge arrived via Oneway's shipping. My complaints to Oneway about the shipping time were met with a shrug and a "that's the way we do it, eh." So much for customer service.
