2Definitely not construction gradeJul 30, 2010
I have bought two of these earbuds and both only lasted roughly 6 months before the sound started to cut out. I was generally tough on the earbuds, wearing them almost every day while working construction; however, I had hoped that a product that was this expensive and portrayed itself to be for construction type jobs might hold up better. All of that said, when working properly, these earbuds are the best I have found for noise cancellation, quality of sound in loud enviroments, and for staying put while working. I just wish I wasn't buying my third pair in 2 years.

3short lifeJul 24, 2010
I HAVE to have these per work rules (OSHA approved) they work fine but only last a matter of months. One side just stops, then in a week or two both are dead. Most of my co-workers say the same. I'm now online searching for my 4TH PAIR in two years!! GRR!! They only have a 90 day warranty for a reason.

4Like they say. Nothing but the musicJul 14, 2010
Though I would not recommend these for any rigorous activity, as moving around translates sound through the cord, they are perfect for using around loud background noise such as airplanes (and bad karaoke singers). They are well constructed, and even after using them every day, they are still intact with no issues at all. The volume limiting can be a little annoying, but it is a necessary feature for it to be rated as a safety device(whats the point of blocking out high decibel noise, when you're pumping even louder sounds that close to your ear) And the placement of the buds in your ears is hard to get -just right- so the music isn't muffled.

1where's the Bass?Jun 01, 2010
I got these as an Xmas gift from my brother and they are just terrible... (sorry if you read this, Daniel). There is **ABSOLUTELY** no bass to the music. I have maxed out the bass settings on my computer and my iPhone and it is still super tinny. The external speaker on my iPhone has more low end than these ear buds. I use the word "buds" generously in the last sentence - these are various sized, pointy, rubber cones of which even the smallest sized ones press so hard against my eardrums that my head aches after about 10 minutes. I will grant that I don't hear any ambient noise while these are in, like pretty solid earplugs, but other than that I don't find any other redeeming quality to these. The volume control part is needlessly bulky - for something that size I would expect to have a mute button or something else besides simple volume up/volume down buttons. If you have an especially elongated acoustic meatus or listen to something that does not require much low end (perhaps an audiobook) in a noise environment, then these might be for you...otherwise, I would look for something else.

4for those that say no bassApr 24, 2010
as with most hearing protection, if its not placed in your ear correctly, it will not work correctly. this carries over to the Blockade Earbuds as well. once you get them in the correct position, they sound quite good. they do the job they are asked to do, which is block noise and allow you to listen to your music without having to crank the volume to drowned out the noise. they are 24db in protection, so while they may not be as good as the foam ones, they are much better than the AO Safety Work Tunes ear muffs. the only problem I have with them is that they wore out at the plug connection. I did however get four months of use out of these, thats four months of 40 hours a week usage, thats a lot of time, a lot of abuse as well. I would highly recommend these to others with the caution that they must be placed in the ears correctly in order for both the noise isolation to work, and to get decent sound quality. these aren't for everyday recreational use where you just toss em in and go, they are safety regulated earplugs first, and sound producing earbuds second.
