I've tried a lot of earplugs and these are my favoritesJun 06, 2011
By Katherine I ride a lot of miles on a motorcycle, and these are my favorite earplugs. I buy earplugs in boxes of 200, and use up a box or more each year. I've tried a half dozen types, and these block as much noise as any, and are far more comfortable. Harder earplugs are easier to insert, but put pressure on my ear canals and get uncomfortable after ten or twelve hours on the bike. These Yellow Neons don't press like that. Since I discovered them, they are the only kind I buy, and I've gone through a half dozen boxes.
All foam earplugs are designed to be single use, but like many people, I will re-use earplugs if they are not dirty and still seem to be working OK. Well, the Yellow Neons do not hold up well to re-use, so I run through the boxes more quickly than I did with the harder earplugs. If you are sweating at all, they will soak up a little moisture and then you can't roll them up properly to get them back in your ears a second time. And they pick up dirt faster than shinier earplugs such as the MaxLite or Purafit. Fortunately with a box of 200, you can grab a new pair as often as you like.
Note that the Yellow Neons are made in two sizes, and if you have larger ear canals you will want the larger ones.
To the commenter on the earlier review, who proclaimed that if you need earplugs your motorcycle is too loud: The reason for earplugs on a motorcycle is because of the wind noise. 70mph on the freeway can push the noise level in a motorcycle helmet up over 100 decibels. Add in a 20mph headwind and it can get downright painful. None of my gas engine motorcycles have loud pipes - I won't have it. But I still go through a couple hundred pairs of earplugs each year. Even when I ride electric motorcycles that make no more sound than a bicycle, I still wear earplugs if I expect to go over 50 mph or so.

Effective, comfortable, great valueMay 04, 2011

I use earplugs often. As a writer in a typical office situation, typical office distractions such as loud conversations, people on webinars or conference calls, etc. are very distracting. Rather than expect the world to adapt to me, I use earplugs. These E-A-Rsoft plugs are somewhat small, but sized right for people with small to medium ear canals. I can't imagine someone's ear canals being so large that these would fall out ... I suspect perhaps some failure to follow instructions somewhere.
I can leave these plugs in for more than an hour with no discomfort.
They block noise well, though I find the 33 db claim suspicious. I have used silicone plugs too, rated at 28 db reduction, that I perceive to do a much better job. However, I just can't wear silicone plugs for extended periods as I can these foams.
And the price ... around .$10 per pair, seems quite a good deal.
I'm happy with the product and recommend it to someone with small to medium ear canals who wants comfortable earplugs that do a good, not great, job of noise reduction.

Good plugs for motorcyclistsOct 20, 2009

I ride a motorcycle with a medium loud exhaust (about half the loudness of a Harley). These earplugs dampen the sound to just the right level where I can ride comfortably to the hum of my own bike while the sound of traffic is all but muted. They are comfortable (I wear them in 1-hour increments), easy to insert and come individually sealed 2 to a pack. 200 is a HUGE number and I don't know if I'll ever run out of these.
If they didn't expand so quickly they would be perfect. I find myself rolling them between my fingers and then rushing to insert them before they expand. Other than that, no complaints.

Not as good as Max Lite plugsApr 23, 2010
By muir i would give this 3.5 stars if it were an option. on comfort, the reason i bought these, they are quite comfortable. however, they are not that different in comfort from the howard leight max lite plugs i was using before these (which are well reviewed, and amazon has a prime seller selling as "maxlit"). honestly sometimes i think one is more comfortable and then other times i think the other is more comfortable, so there's really no difference at least of meaningful / major difference.
however, the max lites DEFINITELY DEFINITELY seal better. i can hear a lot clearer with these ear soft plugs in than i can w/ the max lites, so that's a negative and a significant one considering i don't want to hear if i have ear plugs in. for this reason of approx equal comfort and better sealing i'd choose the max lite. the max lite also comes in an easier to deal w/ individual package per set (the plastic is perforated plastic and like a millisecond to open whereas these ear soft are a little more cumbersome packaging)
however, one factor that does arguably favor the ear softs is their shape is a straight "bullet" shape whereas the maxlites are a "T" shape. the only difference this makes is the ear softs look cooler coming out of your ears (or maybe better put "not as dorky") and can also be slightly more comfortable to sleep on since there's less material outside your ear. however, even taking this into consideration, i'd rather sleep on the max lites cause they aren't bad to sleep on and the sealing is just so much better with the max lites. i wished i'd stuck w/ what i had and just bought the max lites again.
Sufficient, albeit some sorenessMar 08, 2012

There may be some redundancy with other reviewers, namely that they're kind of short length-wise. If you're not careful, you'll push it through too much. However, this is highly unlikely because humans are intelligent (aren't we, now?). That said, in this review I am mainly comparing to MSA Safety Works 10087625 Foam Ear Plugs, Orange and Green, 80-Pairs. I've used the MSA in multiple Prometric Exam-testing Centers. As another reviewer mentioned, the AO Safety/3M earplugs don't roll up as thin as other earplugs, such as the MSAs. I had a hunch when I purchased these 3Ms, but it is the same price as the MSA Safety Works 10059484 Expandable Foam Ear Plugs in Counter Display, 100-Pair ... but 200 pairs(!) as of this writing. Also, I really wanted the yellow.
I would say that the green MSAs can roll up a whole 2.0mm in diameter thinner than the 3Ms. Also, I was left with some soreness after a few hours (that should be expected too, huh?). They block out sound pretty well. When I took them out (I was at a local library in a suburb) ... I was still pretty shocked at the volume of the HVAC, people walking around, and muttering of people. Some teenage girl left her ringer on; was probably on medium or medium-high. It didn't go through the earplug too much--ever so slightly. She was close to me, about 7 feet away.
I wonder how these would work in a club venue setting. Stay tuned. ... (Should probably give it four stars).
