Mounting requires mating the adhesive strip to the hook, which is pretty straightforward. For those of you who expect this metal version to be rock steady when stuck on the wall, note that the plastic piece that actually gets mounted to the wall is snapped into the metal shell. This allows the metal to slide up for removal, but also means there is a little play. However, if you didn't do the mounting, you probably wouldn't notice.
Once I got past the unusual shape I found the bulbous hook worked pretty well on the bathroom door. I haven't tried removing it to see if it comes clean from the door--which is a big part of the 3M Command story.
amazon.com, you could sell me a lot more of this 3M Command range if you showed pictures of the actual product not obscured by the packaging. I can't for the life of me tell what the Modern Reflection and COP style hooks look like. Also, these are pricey, so offer me multiples at a better unit price. And finally, large, medium, and small hook descriptions mean nothing to me. How about some actual dimensions? The back plate of this large hook is 4-1/8" high x 1-3/4" wide.

I have had these as towel hooks in my bathroom. I have had them up for three years. I have teenagers. Need I say more. These are the best. No more holes in my walls. Follow the directions exactly when mounting any Command product. I have them ALL from soap holders to picture hangers.

I purchased this item for our office. I used it for a cubicle for a colleague to be able to hang up their coat. Very easy and looked great with the furniture. Since, I have purchased more for other cubicles and the back of an office door. Good, sturdy, professional looking product.

Use them in the bedrooms to hold robes and kitchen area to hold my children's backpacks. Use them on bath tile as well since they appear to hold well on any surface. Certainly beats putting nails everywhere! Can't imagine how I got along without them before they came along. Wonderful product!

First of all, the back plate is 3-1/4" high x 1-5/16" wide. I have a separate review for the large size and provide dimensions there too.
I am a repeat customer. Earlier this year, 3M had several metal Command series hook designs which seem to be discontinued. Happily, they are still producing the brushed nickel series in this bulbous design so I can match what I already have.
Once mounted, I never thought I would need to take these hooks off the door. As it turns out, I am going from one hook to two on one door, and two hooks to three on another, so the remountable nature of 3M Command is really great for keeping them centered. The previous hooks were up for almost a year and they come right off (varnished wood doors) as advertised. Each hook comes with two adhesive strips, so I'm covered for now.
I still find the hooks expensive. I've invested over $40 in them, but I figure at the end of the day they are hardware which I can take with me when I move. I just hope 3M keeps making the adhesive strips.
