Yes, but..Dec 24, 2009

The depth gauge is a good idea that probably should have been thought out in the original design process. It's solid enough, it won't come off (see later advice), and it serves its purpose. However, it has to be removed to make some cuts, and being Hibernian and not Hanseatic, I find my patience a bit tried, not to mention my concentration, in making sure the various bits and pieces are accounted for and secured. Advice as promised: When you're making a cut without the depth foot installed, make sure the knurled locking screw is TIGHT. Otherwise, the not-particularly-captive nut in the piece will escape as vibration loosens the locking screw. Mine went down a return vent, but I was able to find it, a couple of sheet-metal cuts later. On the Futility-Utility Continuum, it's in the Utility segment, but with qualifications.
Hold on to your nutsMar 12, 2012
By Pen Like another reviewer here, I lost the nut for the thumbscrew that secures the depth stop. It is a mystery to me why Fein didn't consider that this thing could just slip into oblivion from a bit of vibration. Keep the thumbscrew tight at all times. Fortunately for me, my local hardware store stocks metric nuts, so I was able to find a replacement for 13 cents. Finding the thumbscrew at the bottom of the ladder was a bit trickier, but after 10 minutes with a flashlight I did succeed. Finding that in a hardware store would have been trickier still.
Other than that design flaw, the depth stop is a very handy accessory. I've used it for removing linoleum and plywood overlays on hardwood floors, and for removing wall and ceiling sections without cutting into studs or joists or wiring. It is solidly constructed, attaches firmly to the Multimaster with two allen head screws, and adjusts easily. Just hang on to your nuts and you'll be OK.
it works well!Jun 17, 2011
By Chris Anderson The fein saw is a pricey tool but the more I use it the more efficient I can be. So keeping a good selection of blades, keeps this saw in play and it can pay for itself. This setup turns it in to a mini saw with depth guide. the blade can be used w/o the guide, and blade can be rotated so you get more life from round blades. the depth guide can be used with other blades also. It is a larger dia. blade than the segmented blade and it helps to make straighter cuts. Caution the rubber guard will still go thru your skin, painful but not instant.
