The secret of course, is the use of a Festool TS 55 or TS 75 EQ circular saw and a Festool Precision Guide Rail. The unique Festool guide rail system is designed for use with Festool products, so adapters are unnecessary. Two soft, grippy, cushion strips underneath the guide rail are strategically located to prevent slippage and splintering. Upon first use, a hard rubber edge strip is trimmed back by the tool so that it precisely indicates the cut line for future work without calculations for base plate offset. Special "C" clamps fit into a slot under the guide rail for obstruction free work when absolute positioning accuracy is required. Made in Germany. | | | Features: | |
• Use the FS 1400 Guide Rail (55 inches) with the Festool TS Plunge cut saw to make precision cuts up to 49 inches long
• Integrated splinterguard serves as cut line and prevents tear-out and splintering
• A fully integrated system, use your Festool routers or jigsaw with the guide rail for expanded capability
• Non-skid, dual-clamping rubber strips prevent movement during the cutting operation, saving significant set up time
• Guide strip reduces friction between the tool and guide rail for easier, more fluid cutting action

Festool Quality?Feb 20, 2010
By R. Larson

I bought two of these tracks. They are high quality except for one thing: When I tried to put two tracks together to make an extra long track, using the festool connecting links, the tracks do not form a straight line. I found that the ends of the tracks are not cut perfectly square. Festool customer service gives no answer. For the price I expected more than this.

Good Alone, Terrible Joined TogetherJan 03, 2011
By J.R. Salzman I have two 55" rails that I join together for cutting 8' sheets. The saw always seems to "catch" a little on the joint as it travels over it. The connector system has never worked right no matter how I connected the two rails (gap, tight together, etc). The dang things never stay straight no matter how much screwing around I do. Tonight I experimented with them one last time. I joined the rails together setting them perfectly straight using my 6' level. I then moved it around the shop a couple times, set it down, bumped it, carried it around, set it up to cut (without cutting), then checked it on my level again. I did this three times. At a minimum it was 1/8" crooked. Maximum was 3/8" out of straight. What a joke. This is supposed to be a tool; unfortunately its more like a toy.
Bottom line: alone this rail is great. For joining to another rail its utter crap. Spend the extra money on the long rail and save yourself the headache. I just ordered the 115" rail. My extra 55" rail is going on Ebay.

Great Product...as youwould expectJan 05, 2011

ignore the comments about them not lining up. They state clearly to leave a 2mm gap and adjust them by eye. to be more precise get a 1m long straight rule and it will be dead on every time.
