4Sturdy and fairly inexpensiveOct 09, 2007

Two sets of these brackets, plus some 2x4 lumber, will produce two sturdy sawhorses with about 1/2 hour of cutting and assembly. You need to buy two - one sawhorse is about as useful as one shoe.

They aren't perfect though - the sawhorses you make will be somewhat heavier than those you could make from scrap. The package says "instructions included" ... nope. The wing nuts supplied can't make enough force to pull the carriage bolts (also supplied) properly into the 2x4 material.

Regarding instructions, you really don't need much - I was able to figure out the measurements, but I'm familiar with what height and width sawhorses should be. I'd recommend that you buy 4 8' 2x4s to make these - cost, about $10. The picture shows wider material for the top surface, but 2x6s or 2x8s are more than twice the cost of 2x4s, and I don't think you'll gain anything for the money. Make 8 legs, 31" in length, and 2 top plates, 36" in length. Measure in 5" from each end of the top plate for the bolt, centered in the 2x4. If you have the skills, bevel the leg ends to the angle that makes the leg ends sit flat on the ground. If not, cut them straight across - it'll be ok, though it won't look as nice.

I used a regular nut and washer in place of the wing nuts. The legs will be wobbly unless you tighten the fastener with a wrench.

Building sawhorses from scrap will be cheaper, but these brackets are a good option if you are starting from nothing and only have a saw.

4Grizzly Saw Horse BracketsJul 29, 2010

I read the comments by T.G.Reese before I bought them and there isn't really much to add to that excellent review. Delivery was quick, the instructions were adequate, and I used the wing nuts supplied. The whole assembly needed to be tightened up again after being left outside in rain overnight, but that is no different to any check before equipment is used.
So far it has been sturdy, reliable, and is more than adequate for it's purpose.

Grizzly G3312 Saw Horse Brackets allow you to build a really stable sawhorse. I put quite a bit of time on mine and have a set of sawhorses, out feed, Work area with a piece of plywood and just a necessity if you work with tools. These will be around a long time. Plastic is a good secure method of mounting legs to the Top Piece of the Horse. Crossbraced and shelved your sawhorse will be a thing of beauty and usefullness to you and your family.
