Miter saw "stands alone"Oct 30, 2006
By Lyle B. Cook
"artist in his residence"
After purchasing the Grizzly maple work top table and the heavy duty leg set ,I was very impressed with the Grizzly line of products. When I did further research I was amazed at the quality and quantity of products that Grizzly has in it's lineup. Having previously acquired a 10" miter saw, I didn't want to mount it to the maple top and take up needed space. The miter stand was a perfect fit for the saw and the ability to fold it up when not needed added to its utility. As you can tell, I have become a Grizzly fan and look forward to a long term relationship with them. Lyle Cook, Maumelle,Arkansas " The miter saw stand that stands alone"

As you would probably expectMar 22, 2009
By Douglas Actually I did a lot of looking around the big box stores and found several good stands. The quality difference between the sub $100 stands and the over $200 dollar stands were significant. When I found the Grizzly and read the reviews I had hoped I had found a product of higher quality and at moderate price. Not to be. The quality was about the same as the others in the same price class. The stand itself is not as stable as I would have liked and the wheels surely don't make it mobile for anything other than moving it around the garage. As was noted on other reviews it arrived in a box with insufficient packing and a number of the plastic pieces were broken and there was a large dent in one of the legs. I was however impressed with the customer service when I e-mailed them of the problems. They were quick and helpful in sending the replacement parts for the stand. Overall the quality is what you should expect for the price and the customer service is first rate.

A Best Buy.Jun 20, 2008
By Emmacakes

When I built my workshop, I made a section of the counter / bench lower to fit the 10" cut-off saw that I had at the time. The idea was neat, I could use the whole length of the counter as an extended bed for the saw, that is as long as it was not piled full of projects.
When I bought a new 12" cut-off saw I found it was too wide and the bed was too "thick". I also wanted a bit more mobility such as moving it to the garden shed when I cut siding on it. I looked at a number of saw stands at all the usual places like Menards and HD before coming across the Grizzley in their catalog. It was a pleasant surprise that I could get it through Amazon and at a slightly lower cost.
It is well worth the money. It is sturdy and well built. It has lots of flexibility with the extendable arms and rollers that are adjustable up, down and out. The dual rails are less likely to flex that the single extension rails on other stands.
Grizzley also stands behind it. A knob was damaged in transit and a weld was broken when I received the stand. One brief call and the replacements were in the mail, no questions asked.
I have one minor complaint that the wheels could have been done better. The are small and poorly positioned.
I do not work for Grizzley. My only connection is the hours I spend perusing their fantastic catalog the size of a phonebook.

Ever try to ship rocks in a paper bag?Feb 07, 2007
By larrygcmob The miter saw stand would probably rate five stars, but I never got enough pieces to make a unit to use. The pieces do look pretty durable, however.
The first shipment arrived with the cardboard shipping box mutilated with pieces sticking out of large holes and yards and yards of packing tape holding the remains together. There was not one piece of packing material in the box. To cut costs, about 48 pounds of steel parts are put into a cardboard box that is bigger than the components and sent on its merry way with no packing material. In fact, the main frame of the unit (about 40 pounds) is about 8" shorter than the box with no packing material to protect the ends of the box.
I contacted Grizzle customer service and requested another unit because I was not even going to open the box. I requested a 2nd shipment and asked that they pack it better.
The 2nd unit arrived minus the ends (yes, both ends) of the box and pieces sticking out of the openings. Grizzly's response to my request for better packing was to put a "fragile" sticker on the box. First time I have ever heard steel referred to as "fragile"!
I again contacted customer service to cancel the pick up order on the first unit and to not bother sending another replacement because I was not interested in a "groundhog day" experience with their company. I decided to try to make one unit out of two boxes of pieces and parts.
That was a wasted idea because after I opened both boxes (what was left of them) I could not find enough pieces to make one unit.
So, another call to customer service and this time I told them to forget about a replacement and just issue me a credit for the purchase. I would take a roll of packing tape and try to get the boxes back together good enough to ship. That took a good two hours just to tape the boxes back together after a trip to my local Lowe's to get another roll of tape.
After taking them back to my business address for shipping, customer service called and informed me that UPS refused to pick up the items and I could dispose of them as necessary. They also will issue a credit to me for the full price.
Grizzly's customer service rating is a solid five stars and I would give them ten stars if that was available. They were fantastic with their responses and letting me know the status of my shipments.
I realize that this rating system is for the products, not shipping problems. But, I just do not see how this unit, as presently packaged, would ever survive a shipment to anywhere outside of the city limits of its shipping origin.

Shoulda bought the Denali?Feb 26, 2010
By R. Bellamy Now that I've (finally) used the Grizzly and gone to Home Depot and compared it to the Ryobi (same as the Denali), I think the Grizzly is probably sturdier and perhaps more stable. However, having said that, I'm not sure it was worth all the aggravation. You see, the Grizzly was delivered in substandard packing which was damaged in shipment. The hardware was packed inside the box in very flimsy plastic bags which apparently can handle only a little jostling without breaking open. Mine arrived missing a fairly extensive list of hardware items that had escaped from the torn and ruptured cardboard container. As I'm sure you've discovered from other reviewers, this is not unusual for this product.
So, like some other purchasers, I had to do a complete inventory of missing parts, talk to the **nice** people at Grizzly (don't they ever get tired of the complaints?) and report the missing and broken parts. They told me they would have to determine whether to replace the parts or ship another entire unit. A day or so later, they called to tell me that they had decided to ship another complete unit.
The second package arrived in just a couple days and was generally intact except that one of the hardware bags was again ruptured, missing (fewer) parts. Before I could even sort through the new box, I got another call from Grizzly. They told me that UPS wanted the original unit and shipping container. Since I wasn't interested in reassembling a whole new unit, I simply took the necessary parts from the new box and completed my first unit. Then, I threw all of the remaining stuff into the original packaging and set it on the porch. UPS picked it up within a day.
Frankly, I wouldn't have had a serious problem with this mishap if I hadn't already read several reviews reporting the same issue, and I can't figure out why Grizzly doesn't do something to resolve it. Fact is, the stand is okay for home use (but not substantial enough to survive professional use in my opinion).
BTW, although the unit is reasonably substantial, the adjustable plastic knobs (about 14 of them) will not tolerate banging around in the back of a pickup or SUV. For that matter, the wheel assemblies probably wouldn't either. I do, however, prefer the units dual extendible material holder arms to the typical single arm units as on the Denali (Ryobi). They do not twist and do keep the rollers level.
Bottom line: the price is right, Grizzly's service is commendable and the unit is okay for my use, but don't buy it if you don't have time to wait for replacement parts. The aggravation may not be worth it.
UPDATE 3/13/2012: Have dragged this puppy out of storage several times since I originally purchased it. The last time was to cut composite railings and treated 4x4's for my front porch overhaul. Again, the unit proved to be perfectly adequate for my (casual homeowner) use, but I would hesitate to throw it in the back of my truck and expect it to survive the trip to a job site. For that matter, I wouldn't "throw" this unit anywhere. It wouldn't survive the abuse.
