Very good set of plug cutters but you need a drill press to use them. They are really good for making plugs.
Don't try to use them in a hand held electric power drill to cut around the non-removeable nails of wooden pallets, one slip and you could seriously mar the cutting edge of the cutter. With a hand held drill it will slip - superman. I was quick enough to not seriously harm my one cutter's I tried (I only tried it once). It still cuts.
Now as for salvaging the boards from wooden pallets, back to the drawing board. Otherwise it's brute force with a large hammer, crowbar, wonder bar, cats paw, and cold chisel or a forged nail puller if you've got one. Such as the:

Forged Alloy Nail Puller, 19"
Either case a lot more work than I desire.

works like a dream, my wife said those are cute little buttons ? what she's talking about? What the plugs that I had just cut, cute ??? Well I guess so, who is to argue with that, not me! if you know what I mean. But they do work rather well. deep or not works great.
