Great Tool RestAug 23, 2007
By James Orzech I'm using this tool rest on my 8" Sheppach grinder for dressing up scraper blade edges. Its being used with the JET 708027 SWGJ-1 Side Wheel Grinding Jig. Some complain that it moves on them even, if the locking screws are tight. I believe the movement is due to much force being applied. I have found that using moderate pressure and letting the wheel do its cutting you will not have any problems using this tool rest.

Get something similar if you buy the scissor jigMar 11, 2007
By Paul If you buy the scissor jig you get something similar but it's covered with a teflon like material. I like it better than the tool rest.

Handy for holding an angleJul 03, 2007
By Jim Larsen I use this jig for lots of sharpening tasks and I have no trouble with it. I use it for scrapers (lathe tools) and some knives that don't fit in the other jigs. I have not tried scissors, but I think it would do well.
If it moves on you, then you may be using it backwards. It will install in either direction, and if you get it backwards the leverage from the wheel might make it move. Experiment with different bar positions and always try to mount the short side next to the wheel. It works great for me. Functions as designed. It is not meant to be a vise!

Tool Rest reviewOct 27, 2007
By Robert N. Pontius This tool rest will not store in the drawer of the sharpener without removing the screw. It works fine.
