Clamp pads leave oily marks on woodOct 19, 2005
By Hobbyist I purchased several sets of these clamp pads about a year ago. Unfortunately, I've found that these pads leave oily round marks on the wood being clamped. The oily residue is soaked into the wood and very difficult to remove through sanding. After leaving something clamped overnight, the oily marks spread like an infection in a circle around the clamp pad. I've read in forums that this might be caused by a plastic release agent being squeezed out of the pad. Interestingly, I also have a few sets of Jorgensen pipe clamp pads which do not exhibit this problem.

Pads Work GreatSep 08, 2010
By C. Ehmke I read the review about the pads leaving oily marks so I clamped the new pads onto small pieces of cardboard. After a few days I opened the clamps and did not see any oily marks. Possibly the other buyer had a unique problem.
I put these pads on some non-Jorgenson clamps and they fit just fine. They are priced a much better than the specialty stores even with shipping. Here's a trick - when the shipping seems high, get a few more things from the "sold by" store to reduce effective shipping cost per item. Stock up on Christmas or Birthday items. It never hurts to be ready. :)

Clamp Pads Work FineAug 24, 2008
By Creeksidehiker Jorgensen's bar clamp pads provide good good clamping action and protect surfaces. True, the oils in the plastic will slightly stain certain types of wood, but that is easily sanded out. For those types of wood, I place a small square of material between the clamp pad and the surface being clamped which eliminates the stain problem.
Fit like a glove.Mar 09, 2012
By D. Davis I purchased these for my #3736 clamps (3701\3703 heads). Some reviewers have complained that these didn't fit, but they snapped on and fit perfectly. They have decent weight and so far have performed well while gluing up some poplar boards. I did use cardboard between the pads and the wood but didn't see much grease\oil. I definitely recommend them.
