from what I've seen, this is by far one of the most accurate calipers out there, even topping the fowler digital caliper i own, and its cheaper

I bought this for use at work where I've been using the company's $300 Mitutoyo solar 6" Model No. CD-S6"C for almost 6 months. It measures to the .1 mm so if you need something even finer, to the .01 mm then this is not for you. I'm very pleased with the quality, smooth-moving parts, and reliability of this instrument. This unit weighs 145 grams and is not too heavy after repetitive, constant daily use. Very easy to use, will lock with its screw-stopper, and has a very readable display. It comes with its own battery. I purchased this model because after using a solar unit I prefer to have something that doesn't shut off when put away. This doesn't come in its own case--just the plastic packaging with cardstock backing. I just keep mine in a cloth zip pencil case.
