 Great product for a best priceJun 26, 2010
This chuck is a great for using on a small or even mid size projects, depends on a type of lathe you own. Personaly I am making woodwind instruments and for me it works perfemt in any ways! The four set of jaws I think are enough for any project you are going to do. The chuck comes off the lathe very easy so I can change it with drive center if I need. So far I have no complains and the other nice thing is the price. There is no other product (new) from the same grade availible on the market that is on better price than Amazon! Thanks Amazon for the product !You are always been my best internet store!!!!!!!!!

My 9-piece scroll chuck system set is only a 7 piece set. The 2 Tightening Levers were not in the box. The box was sealed. Nothing in my shop fits the holes in the chuck for the tightening levers. Therefore i've yet to use it as i'm 50 mi. from a hardware store.

Everything I was looking for, and then some.Apr 17, 2010
I was looking for a cheap but well made chuck after my last one exploded on me. I settled on the PSI CSC2000C after reading all the other fine reviews on Amazon.
I was wary about the bar mechanism, but now that I've tried it out I wouldn't trade it for anything.
The chuck is much heavier than it looks in pictures. Very nice.
To be clear, the chuck itself is 1x8 tpi.

I am fairly new to wood-turning. And until I got the Barracuda system I had been using screws and face-plates to mount my work on the lathe to turn it. There was more time and hassle involved doing it that way as I discovered once I got the Barracuda system!
It has cut my turning time in at least a third! I consider that to be a lot of saved time. I want to be turning wood and producing artwork at a rate that is productive from a selling standpoint, and still produce a great piece. This system has allowed me to do that!
*Note: I am new to wood-turning, BUT, I am not new to lathes and chuck systems! 23 years in metal industry*
With the above stated line, I wanted to say how impressed I was with the quality of the actual chuck that holds the MANY jaws that go on it. It is not a low-end chuck that you have to worry about falling apart or jamming on you from repeated use. The tools that come with it are sufficient to tighten the work on the chuck. The tightening tools have not bent on me either. The entire system seems to have been built with the best quality in mind.
Another thing I noticed right away upon opening the kit, was that there were slots in the kit carrying case that were empty! No, nothing was missing form the kit, the company just made a very smart move in my opinion, by providing more slots for others jaws and accessories that you can buy for the system so that as/if you expand the system you have a place for the new accessories!
After getting the system and using it (I have had it for about 2 months now) extensively, I cannot understand how they can sell it at the price it is! It is what I consider to be a steal! So, if you are looking for a great chuck system at an even greater value, this is it!

After having this chuck for a couple of weeks, I've found it to be easy to use and a great value. At first I was concerned about the two handle locking mechanism but found that since my lathe has a way to lock the head, this is probably the easiest type of lock to use. I've also found the screw chuck very fast, easy, and surprising nice to use. The fit and finish of this chuck system is one of the best I've seen, especially for the money. I'd recommend it to anyone with a mini/midi lathe.
