Waste of timeMar 27, 2010
By J. Lazzaro I figured I would give this a shot since I didn't want to spend a fortune on a moisture meter. Nearly all of the "name brand" moisture meters cost as much or more then the majority of the power tools in my shop. You know, those things with motors, blades, bits, etc? So I got this meter hoping it would just be average and give me semi accurate readings. So much for that. Every reading it gave me never went above 3%. The majority read 1% or 0%, and this is reading woods like poplar, pine, and walnut. When I purchased these woods they were measured to be about at 15% moisture content using a high end moisture meter. Since purchasing they have been sitting in my shop which is humidity controlled to stay at 45% moisture content. With that in mind, I'm fairly sure it is physically impossibly for any of the lumber to reach even 3% without further use of a kiln....much less 0%.
It is of course possible that I got a dud and others are more accurate, but why waste more time trying another meter or 4. I'm going to look into the mini-ligno meters. They appear to be reasonably priced and well reviewed.

Not heavy duty enough for hardwood flooringFeb 05, 2010

The spurs are too thick to get deep enough into hardwood flooring to get any reading

Easy Tester for Cord WoodNov 14, 2009
By T. Kraemer We've started heating our house with wood as a supplement to our regular and steadily more expensive primary heat source. This tester alllows us to objectively rate the wood we get from different suppliers and then reorder from the best. So easy to user, you just touch the probes to the end of a piece of wood and it instantly gives you a percentage moistore content reading. It's also handy to test any wood. An invaluable tool!

JUNK, JUNK, JUNKMar 27, 2010

This item didn't even come close to performing as designed. I tried it on many different kinds on wood and used multiple batteries and got the same results - nothing!. Never buying unseen (or unheard-of) electronics from Amazon again. I should have known better!.

Works great and I received in a timely manner. I would recommend it to any one who burns or builds with wood. Amazon was great as always.
