I purchased this adapter for use with my Harbor Freight $79 lathe (Item #45276-9VGA). That lathe while on the cheaper end to be sure was working quite well for the simple turned spindle items I was making. However it was missing the ability to use a chuck as none of the ones I could find had the proper thread inserts for the lathe's 3/4" x 10 TPI solid drive shaft.
This adapter is very well made. Had beautiful clean threads on both ends. It spun very smoothly onto the lathe and seated the chuck equally smoothly.
I tested the adapter for "run out" or wobble once it was in place and there was none! Seriously, none. Even with the rather large PSI CSC3000C chuck mounted on it everything spun smooth and true.
I would highly recommend this adapter for anyone looking to make the same kind of upgrades to their own lathes.

My lathe is a copy of an inport produced by the Tools of the Harbour. My machine had a small thread pattern on its spindle, and to use a lot of the aftermarket products I needed a different sized screw and thread pitch.
Now I have it!
This converter is REALLY solid. Cut from a good heafty piece of stock and nicely finished. A good investment to add more life to your lathe.

This Adaptor is poorly machined. The 3/4 - 10 ID Threads are very tight and out of round to the point that it almost don't screw onto the lathe spindle.
The OD 1" - 8 thread seems to fit the jaw chuck ok but the OD threads are also out of round and poorly aligned with the ID threads. This misalignment causes heavy chuck runout and vibration.
I am looking into another way to put the jaw chuck onto my lathe because the runout and vibration could be dangerous.
I would not purchase again.
I would not recommend to others.

Bought this for a friend. Was the only part that would have worked to bring his lathe back to life. Solid piece and came in a timely manner. Gave 4 stars as it wasn't for me so no practical use with it but it locked on and spun up just fine.
