The relay has terminals that you wire to the micro switches on the blast gates. The system is wired in parallel so opening a blast gate turns on your collector, but the dust collector won't turn off unless all the gates in your shop are closed. Manual switches can be easily wired into the system so you can manually turn your dust collector on and off from anywhere in your shop. | | | Features: | |
• Turns on D/C when opening blast gate
• Turns off 220 volt D/C when last gate is closed.
• Low voltage wiring
• Easy installation

Works like a champSep 26, 2005
By David Kersten I only give this 4 instead of 5 stars because the gates themselves are (while pretty standard) not that great. I wish they had bigger flanges, as it is difficult to clamp ducting that will actually stay on if it is tugged on. Otherwise, this setup works excellent. The only other thing that would be nice would be a short delay before turning the unit off when a blast gate is closed. I have not latched the cheap gates properly many times already and they snap shut and the dust collector isnt even up to speed yet.. Then re-opening it to kick the motor on again at half RPM.. I cringe each time it happens.. Also when I go to turn on a different machine, I have to walk over, open the gate on the second machine, walk back and turn off the gate on the first.. a delay would allow me to turn off the first, walk over and turn on the next and not have the collector turning on and off and on and off again..

"sawdust maker"
This is an inline switch, simple to install. Mount this unit on wall and run low voltage wire to all blast gates, wire and simple diagram are included. When you open blast gate, a micro switch starts dust collector and when you are done with that tool you close blast gate and micro switch shuts off collector. One micro switch mounted to blast gate is included. I bought 10 more micro switches from amizon and epoxyed them to my exsisting blast gates. System runs great, I have a 2 HP grizzly cyclone, and have checked the cords several times and they are not even warm.
Great addition to my shopNov 16, 2008
By R. Johnston This device works very well. I was going to get a wireless remote control for my DC, but since I have to open the blast gate for each machine anyway, I installed this instead. Open the blast gate, and the DC comes on. Since the DC stays on until the gate is closed, it also helps to remind me to shut the blast gate on one machine before opening one on another which sends all the suction to the operating machine. The gates themselves are good quality, and pretty inexpensive for a good metal gate, even without the switch
