Dressing the wheel is essential to efficient grinding and a simple wheel is the right tool to do it. Although this tool is labeled "small", it is big and heavy enough to be easy to use, and is big enough to dress a 1" wheel. The wheel works much better than any abrasive dresser I have used, but be advised that it will tend to make a mess. Duct taping my shop vac nozzle just under the grinder wheel when dressing really helps.

Cleans and dresses abrasive stone grinding wheels very well. Removes imbedded aluminum and copper also (which should never be ground on a typical grinding stone, but I do it anyway).

I prefer the desmond dresser, you can't tell from the photo but this is a hollow casting so it is a C shape the photo shows the form from the back of the C making it look more substantial than it really is.

Used it to clean my grinding wheels as soon as I got it and it worked way better than I expected for such a simple tool.
