Great, but catch your problem earlyJul 27, 2010
By CJN We are renting a house and the dishwasher racks are in terrible shape. I had to use a ton of this stuff to cover up all the rust spots. So far it is holding, but I think it would be best used as a maintanence product to keep your racks in good shape; not as a repair for something already severly rusted. My in-laws used the rest of the bottle on thier racks and loved the outcome. They were not in as bad a shape as mine. It does have a heavy paint smell, so make sure you remove your racks and take them outside if possible.

By Bruce J. Schryver Great for touching up those rusted spots in the dishwasher rack. Easy to apply and it dries quickly. Several caveats:
1. If your rack is ready to fail structurally, don't waste your money on this, as it won't help. This is for cosmetic repair and to help prevent further rusting only. It also helps prevent the rusted metal from scratching dishware and glasses, but will not salvage a structurally unsound dishwasher rack. Only a new rack will fix that problem!
2. Thoroughly clean the places where you are going to use this with alcohol or other such material to clean off all soap and residue. Try to get all loose rust out of the area and be sure it's COMPLETELY dry before brushing on the Plasti-Dip.
3. Place a folded paper towel below and between the pegs of the rack and anywhere you don't want this liquid vinyl to adhere or drip on.
4. Give the area multiple coats and allow the material to dry THOROUGHLY between coats.
I know this repeats much of what is already on the instructions, but if the area is not super clean and dry, the coating will simply fall off. Also, be prepared to do the job again in the near future. Sadly, once things begin to rust, stopping the rust cycle is almost impossible in that moist environment, and the rust will continue, albeit more slowly, under the new coating. I've had the dishwasher rack last several more years now by cleaning and recoating as needed, so if you do the same, hopefully you'll have good results.

It works the way it's advertised.Apr 16, 2010
By Paul J. Gardner This product does what it says it will do--re-coat the rack inside of your dishwasher. You do have to apply it in coats to fully replace missing paint and it also smells really strong. So be patient and ventilate well but it has worked for me so far.

By J. Sweet I actually purchased caps for the dishwasher rack and then realized that the package didn't have enough caps for my racks. So, I needed to get more. . .Then I found this! This is much better! It works great! It is cheaper!! Simple to use!

By A. Shilaos Rust does bleed through the covering. Must either totally cut out the rusted areas of do a lot of sanding if you want it to keep the rust away.
