Good saw but not without problemsAug 15, 2010

I picked up this saw second hand and I have owned it for about 2 years. Based on the condition of the PM 2415 the previous owner did not use it for more than a few cuts. Plenty of size and power for cutting bowl blanks or cutting curves. The wheels are balanced and at over 1000# the saw seems very stable. The saw does have problems. I have aligned the wheels, adjusted the table and blade guides and while the blade cuts straight it is 8 degrees off of parallel with the miter gauge slot. I also found the mechanism for aligning the wheels difficult to use. Because the saw cut is so far out of alignment with the saw fence and miter gauge are useless. I tried to align the table with the blade drift but was unsuccessful. The light is mounted on the back side of the saw and is almost useless because of where it is positioned and the lower blade guide is very difficult to align because the lower guard is in the way. This is a good saw but for the price their are better products out there, unless you need the size.
