Want to learn how to turn?Jan 12, 2006
By David C. Peters Mr. Raffan's books are some of the best books I have ever read
on the use of wood lathes and turning tools.
His photos and drawings are excellent and clearly illustrate the
ideas presented in the text.
He seems to always anticipate the questions that a novice would
ask and answers them as though you were present at the writing.
I give these books 5 stars only because I couldn't give them 10

AmazingMar 16, 2006
By Joseph Hosak So much information for beginners it's unreal. I just started turning last year as a hobby and I can't stay away from it. Well organized, detailed pictures, a must have for any turner, beginner or expert. It is something you can keep learning and use as a guide if you have any questions.

This is a great set of turning guidesJan 31, 2008

These books provide a very thorough and well-written guide to turning just about anything. They include detailed examples, and wonderfully clear color photographs and illustrations. If you are looking for some help buying a lathe, choosing tools, sharpening, selecting wood blanks, making and practicing cuts - this is the boxette for you. If you are a more experienced turner looking for some advanced techniques, design elements, marketing ideas - this is the boxette for you. Here is the deal: you don't know me from Adam, and never will. Furthermore, you have no evidence of my woodturning book critic qualifications. But if you are looking for a complete guide to woodturning you should get this set of books. Enjoy!
