The biggest changes are replacing the keyed pinion with a fixed pinion & Allen key opening/closing mechanism, a closed back, and faster action. Made in New Zealand, Nova chucks consistently provide the best value in high quality wood lathe chucks at very reasonable prices. Check these specifications: - Hard-wearing heavy duty, composite indexing backing plate.
- Captured pinion with rotation arrow. Makes it easier to use the Allen key as it seats easier and faster. Also helps with easy opening and closing.
- Ball nose Allen key with easy grip plastic handle.
- Fully backwards compatible with SuperNova & Nova Chuck Accessories and inserts. This means previous purchases hold their value.
Every chuck comes complete with new display box & CD box has space to display and pack extra accessory jaws, inserts etc. Great for organisation! Faster Action than the original SuperNova. \ This package includes the chuck body, 2" jaw set, 45MM Spigot Jaw set (ideal for turning vases, candle holders, goblets, and items with limited tailstock support), woodworm screw, T-hex wrench for opening and closing chuck, and insert of your choice. UPON PLACING ORDER, PLEASE EMAIL US (You can access our contact information under "shipping rates & policies" which takes you to "seller help.")WITH THE INSERT SIZE REQUIRED TO FIT YOUR LATHE (Provided at no extra charge). Standard shipping time to most US addresses is 7 - 14 days. Expedited shipping runs about 1/2 these time frames. This item ships from BC Canada, and at this value is generally not affected by any duties upon import (in the VERY rare instance of a customs duty, worst case scenario is 4.5% plus a $5 brokerage charge). | | | Features: | |

Best value, Oneway quality at a decent price.Jun 13, 2009

This is a great value in scroll chucks. It seems just as good as a oneway talon, but not quite as expensive. has an added benefit of having a sealed back. Came very true and had almost no runout. The jaws are interchangeable with the other nova chucks.
I'll revise after a year of use.

Bought this as my first chuck with the standard jaws, long nose jaws and the 100 mm jaws. It works great, easy to use, holds the spindles and bowls without marring the wood. There are bigger chucks for bigger work but for medium size stuff (under 14") this is a GREAT chuck.
Highly recommend this to you.
Do yourself a favor and order (or go to the hardware store and buy) an extra set of screws to attach the jaws....IT IS EXTREMELY EASY to lose one while taking off/changing the jaws. There must be some law about the screw falling into the largest pile of wood shavings where it will hide and wait to be sucked into your dust collector.
I wish someone would offer the chuck WITHOUT jaws so I could buy just the chuck body. This would allow me to permanently mount a set of jaws (Coles jaws perhaps??) and not have to change them back and forth. Oneway does that through a turning supply dealer in Utah. Email me if you want to know the name of the company.
Does anyone have any experience with the VicMarc brand of chucks from Australia?
