Okay, but Poor Switch DesignNov 13, 2010

I liked this Skil plam sander at first, though not as comfortable or powerful as my old Makita. Light duty, yes, but that's what I was looking for. The sealed switch seemed like a great idea, too. Unfortunately, after a couple of weeks of (very light) use, the switch broke. First it locked up, then it would toggle loosely back and forth without doing anything. It is completely non-functional. Sadly, for me, I used this sander so infrequently that by the time the switch failed my warranty period was up. Inexpensive, but I wouldn't recommend this unit for heavy or regular use. As for the switch, I have a very light touch, so you decide.

Well designed except for the switch, which seems to be a recurring theme for multiple users. If you can't turn it on, it's not much of a sander. I already had a sanding block - now I have two.

This is a perfect product for my uses. I needed a hand held palm sander to do a few jobs that were not right for the larger belt sander I have or the circular attachment that goes on my drill. This product is well made, and the price is very much a deal. Skil makes a good product and I would recommend it.
