Nova G3 Chuck Key problemMay 18, 2008
By Randy Wiz
"Randy"
I was disappointed in the quality of this chuck. The quality of the castings are pretty good but their quality control leaves something to be desired. The geared key that is used to lock the jaws is made from a casting. The key has a bit of machining near the gear teath that is supposed to bring down the diameter to a point where it fits the large holes on the side of the chuck. It is under machined by .015" and does not go in the hole all the way. This results in the guide pin at the tip of the key not able to seat. Sanding and filing on the key got it a bit further in but the key still binds. This chuck is not worth the asking price of $134 when you consider a good American made articulated 4 jaw chuck for a metal working lathe runs about the same. The store had several of these on the shelf and no doubt they all have the same problem.

A must have!!May 23, 2007
By Tita Wilson A quality product for a great price. If you want quality and reliability in a mid-size chuck, this is the one to get. Smooth mechanism and compatible with its big Nova brothers.
